How many watts does a nail lamp need?

Home dual UV/LED lamps are commonly 24–48W; the SUNUV SUNONE (#P06) is sold as 48W. Wattage isn't everything: the lamp has to fit your hand, your thumbs need to lie flat under the light (cure them separately if needed), and a timer helps you repeat the same time every coat.

FAQ

How long do you cure gel polish under an LED lamp?

Follow your bottle. OPI's GelColor instructions say 30 seconds per step (base, each color coat and top coat) in OPI's lamp, and a typical soak-off gel label (ASP at Sally Beauty) says 30 seconds under LED for base and color.

How long do you cure gel polish under a UV lamp?

The ASP soak-off gel label at Sally Beauty says 2 minutes under UV for base and color. Other brands differ, so always follow the bottle.

How long do you cure builder gel?

Follow your bottle. Builder gel goes on in thicker layers, and thicker layers usually need longer.

How many watts should a nail lamp be?

Home dual UV/LED lamps are commonly 24–48W; the SUNUV SUNONE is sold as 48W. Wattage is not everything: the lamp has to fit your hand, your thumbs need to sit flat under the light, and a timer helps you repeat cure times.

Why is my gel polish sticky after curing?

With a wipe-off top coat, a sticky layer after the final cure is normal (the inhibition layer). Wipe it off with alcohol, or use a no-cleanse top coat.
